Fire Magic Tricks – 4 Reasons Why Fire Magic Rocks!

by Merchant of Magic 3 Comments

Fire is one of the elements. To be able to use or control fire in any way is inherently magical. So many magic tricks can be enhanced by adding fire; you can add fire magic tricks to a vanish or production to really pack a punch. If you have the ability to produce a flame without any known form of ignition, then that in itself is magic.

Fire is mesmerising.

We as humans find fire absolutely mesmerising. How many times have you just stared straight into the flames of a fire and just been lost in your thoughts? Fire is almost hypnotic. Our brains are pretty much hard wired to feel this, ever since the caveman era fire has been one of the most astonishing and amazing things known to man.

Fire Magic Tricks get great reactions.

It is a fact; fire magic tricks get great reactions!! Add a burst of flame or fire to any magic trick and it will instantly get a reaction. People gasp and stare in awe; it can be very similar to seeing a good firework! Usually a burst of flames comes as a  shock and catches the spectators off guard, that coupled with a magical production of any sort (maybe a rose or a coin being produced from the flames) will guarantee you a great reaction.

Fire Magic Tricks are great misdirection.

Fire can also be used to cover sleights and is great misdirection that should be taken advantage of. If you are palming an item you wish to produce, why not turn these magic tricks into fire magic tricks? Add a burst of flame from a piece of flash paper or flash string. This is a great way to enhance the magic and cover the move.

Fire Magic tricks attract lots of attention.

If you wish to attract attention from people, whether you are performing  in public or just for friends there are few better ways to do this than using fire magic. Lighting up a fire wallet up in public is sure to  immediately attract attention. The flames will draw a spectator’s eye from anywhere in the room instantly as it is a defence mechanism in our brains to be aware as soon as a flame appears, you cannot help it, so why not take advantage of it!

SAFETY WITH FIRE MAGIC TRICKS

Whenever performing with fire magic tricks you need to be aware of not only your own safety but the safety of those around you. These are a few safety pointers you should follow, of course always use common sense and be aware of all the risks when using fire with your magic tricks.

– Always ask permission before you use any fire magic trick in any venue.

– Never light any flash product near a pack of flash paper or other flash product.

– Never aim fire magic products or throw ignited flash products towards anyone.

– Make sure you have the necessary fire extinguishers nearby should anything go wrong.

– Always store your fire magic tricks somewhere safe and out of reach of children.

– Do not store any fire magic trick or flash product near any form of ignition or naked flame.

I performed my first effect involving fire at the weekend and got an INCREDIBLE response.

That said, all the safety advice should apply doubly when you first start playing with fire. I’m glad I rehearsed it thoroughly before performing as I almost alarmed myself the first time I did it!

      Hi Iain

Glad it went well for you. Fire magic can get fantastic reactions. If you are performing for the public with flash paper, make sure your PL insurance covers the use of fire.
