If you find that your magicians thumbtip is not a good fit, it’s easy to fix. Firstly, make sure it’s a good quality thumbtip, we recommend hard plastic like this one.
Vernet thumbtips can be molded to your thumb in much the same way as a mouth guard. To fit your magicians thumb tip, You need soak your thumbtip in hot water. A few seconds will get it nice and malleable, so it’s easy to fit your magician thumb tip. It will also be really hot, so be careful.
Pop the thumb tip it in a cup, and boil the kettle, pop a teabag in another cup (there’s no point wasting a boiled kettle!)
Pour water over the Thumb until it’s about 2 or 3 inches deep – enough to properly cover the thumb.
Almost instantly get a teaspoon and fish it out, pop it on a paper towel and dry it. Now whilst its hot (but not boiling hot) put it on the desired thumb and with the other hand make a fist around it to squish it around the thumb so it fits.
Enjoy your cup of tea.
There are several thumbtips on the market, but the world leader is without doubt the Vernet Classic Thumb Tip. It’s the professionals choice worldwide. It responds really well to being heated for fitting which makes it simple to fit your magicians thumb tip correctly first time. It’s worth investing in a good thumbtip because they can be a magicians insurance policy.
Don’t worry if the thumbtip you are using does not match your skin colour, that’s really not important for these reasons.

This is EXCELLENT advice. Having been an amateur magician for more than half-a-century I don’t use the ThumbTip often. Honestly, I have never been satisfied with any ThumbTips I purchased; due to a poor fit.
It never occurred to me the device could be ‘customized’ to suit me!
