Ben Williams and Dominic Reyes discuss how to cope, after being exposed to the knowledge of Egyptian Ink by Sansmind
With great knowledge, comes great responsibility…
Here’s what happens with Egyptian Ink by Sansmind
Quite often a transposition effect requires a duplicate object to complete the effect.
What if you can take away that restriction?
Abdullah Mahmoud, from Egypt, has created a way to vanish the spectator’s signature on their coin and have it appear on another.
This is more than just a moving ink effect.
Egyptian Ink allows you to create an impossible moment and souvenir between you and your spectators.
You have to check out the trailer to experience the impossible!
* Gimmick included
* Works with any currency
The 6 steps to perform Egyptian Ink by Sans Mind:
1) You ask a spectator to give you 2 coins.
2) You hold the first coin at the fingertips and ask the spectator to sign it.
3) Once signed, you give it to them to hold tightly in their fist.
4) Now you take the other coin and with just a small wave, the signature appears on the coin!
5) You tell the spectator to check the coin they are holding, the signature has gone!
6) You then sign the coin yourself, and hand it to the spectator to keep.
In the field review:
‘I’m posting this via my phone, directly from tonight’s gig, where I’m using Egyptian Ink by sansmind during the drinks and Canapés
So far, I’ve done 8 groups. Reactions have been excellent!!
The method is very very simple, clean, practical, and goes the job perfectly. Clever bit of thinking. Herman teaches everything you need to know on the DVD very well
What’s the handling like? – The mechanics are easy, nothing much to worry about other than getting the handling smooth and natural. I perform with coins full time, so my confidence was high enough to jump right in performing this live, but really… it’s best to spend more than one day practising this. You want everything smooth and effortless.
Is it practical for real life ‘worker’ performance? Yes. The angles are excellent. The only time you need to control them a touch is right at the end for the clean up. Again, nothing here to be concerned about even if you are a beginner.
Contrasting colour coins work best. As I’m in the UK, I’m using a new 10p coin and a new 2p coin.
Would I use this…? I’m doing it right now.
