Simon sent in the following question:
‘I’m totally new to learning magic and want to learn the best card trick. What should I choose?’
Simon! Welcome to magic! You’re in for a great time, but be warned, it’s really addictive. It’s funny, but they say even the longest journey starts with just a single step. In your case, it’s a big one! Which trick should you learn first?
You can ask 1000 magicians that question and you may get 1000 different answers. Well, that’s what we thought.. In fact, we actually tried it out and performed a survey of a random selection of subscribers to the Merchant of Magic training service. We got back over 2000 results and complied them to find the top 3 card magic tricks winners. Looks like magicians do agree sometimes 🙂 with over 61% recommending the same trick.
In the survey, we only asked for card magic tricks, not books or DVD’s on learning magic, although we may do polls for those in the future. Equally, wewe received a heap of votes for sponge balls and cups and balls sets. Perhaps in their excitement to vote, the magicians skipped past the bit about card tricks, but we can’t complain, as we owe a big thank you to everyone who took part in the poll.
It’s interesting to note that the winners were all items that require no sleight of hand skills when you start, but are flexible enough to grow as the magician’s skills develop. This makes them great choices as magic tricks to give to kids. Keep it easy and simple, get them addicted to performing and you have a life long magician in no time.
If you would like to take part in our magicians surveys and polls, we would love to have you on the team too. Simply join our training group. It’s free and you will receive a load of free and useful magic training help.
