Top 5 Best Coffee Shop Magic TricksFive of the best magic tricks for coffee shops

Sam asks: ‘I’m a barista at Starbucks and I also love magic. I want to bring the magic to customers while doing my job. I normally have a sharpie on me and write a lot of names on cups. What tricks do you recommend?‘

You are really lucky because you have a constantly new, and shifting audience to appreciate your magic. Make sure you have the store management on board for you to entertain the customers. It’s all about having a balance between entertaining the customers, and keeping things moving and giving a fast service.

As your reputation grows, don’t be surprised if you get offers from other establishments, for your entertainment.

You can do so many magic tricks in a coffee shop environment. The coffee cups, stir sticks, sugar packets and napkins are perfect for so many close up magic tricks.

I would go for very quick and visual tricks that do not require the spectators to concentrate hard. You also want tricks that can be brought to a close quickly if you need to move on or get interrupted. You are there to sell coffee first, and entertain second.

Here’s 5 of the best magic tricks for coffee shops:

Pocket Sharpie

Best Hold Out Devices – How to Hide and Produce Items by Magic

by Dominic Reyes Leave a Comment

Rrecommended Magic Tricks‘I am looking for hold out devices that can hold items under a coat or table ready to secretly steal as part of a routine. These items could be anything from coins to balls, wine glass or even a wine bottle. Can you suggest anything?’ – Jason

Hi Jason,

We can certainly help, there are a number of hold out devices, I suppose it really depends on what you want as there isn’t one to cover all, but I will list a few and their uses for you now.

Splash 2.0

Splash 2.0 – This is the classic splash Bottle gimmick for producing wine bottles or similar. It comes with an excellent teaching video by David Stone who must have performed the classic splash bottle routine a gazillion times! If you want to produce a wine bottle this is my top recommendation.

Ball Holder

Ball Holders – This is a selection of ball holders, a couple of these are wire, they are more for manipulation balls, the cloth ball holder is obviously a bit more versatile in what it will hold.

Vanisher

Vanisher – Hold out devices like the Vanisher will hold a pen like a Sharpie so that you can vanish your Sharpie whenever you want to.

TKO

TKO 2.0 – This is a gimmick to be worn with a shirt but can be used to hold out items like gaffed playing cards, signed selections, coins or similar. You can use it to vanish items and perform some very perplexing magic with it too with the routines included.

Topit

Topit Revolution – A Topit is usually a vanishing tool but with the Topit Revolution you can now reproduce vanished items so you have one of the most versatile hold out devices on the market.

These would be our top suggestions for hold out devices to help hide items for producing and vanishing to enhance your routines.

Magic Tricks For A Wedding Speech – Recommended

by Dominic Reyes 1 Comment

magic tricks for a wedding speechJohn has been asked to perform some magic tricks for a wedding speech. He’s not sure what to do..

Hi Guys, I perform close up fairly often at weddings, but recently I have been asked to perform magic tricks for a wedding speech at my Granddaughter wedding. It will be performed at the Reception directly after the speeches, therefore at the top table, but for ALL the wedding guests. Obviously I want this to go well for both my Granddaughter and her Husband. I would really appreciate any advice you could give me regarding suitable effects, and presentation under this situation. Thanking you in advance, John.

Hi John,

We spoke on the phone earlier, I would be more than happy to help out with some sort of ideas for a presentation. Choosing the right magic tricks for a wedding speech depends on several factors:

How long are you performing for?

Do you perform magic, mentalism a mix of both?

Are you comedic or serious?

What are the guests going to be like? Do your families have riotous senses of humor or are would you definitely be airing on the side of caution?

I saw this presentation from another pro magician at a wedding where he was performing, he was best man at the wedding and this was his 8 minute set:

Nick Crown Magician

Obviously this cost a little bit of money and it doesn’t have to be that expensive a routine but it is worth looking at the structure of the routine, the pacing etc.

Here are some products I would suggest you check out, you could easily build a 5 – 8 minute set with these.

Too Hot To Handle (Drink Prediction) Then you could switch the can at the end of the effect (on the offbeat) and perform Healed and Sealed 2.0.

Ring Leader Ring of String Routine and finish with Ring Flight

Invisible Deck sent to the bride and groom in a sealed envelope, you then have the bride decide the suit and the groom the card value and you have a very strong, easy to do prediction

You could perform a Bank Night Routine with (Like Blank Night by John Archer) but instead of money you could say inside one envelope is a photo of them together. Each envelope they choose you cut/rip up or burn until there is one left, this of course is the only one with the photo in it. You can then perform Torn 2 Pieces by Shawn Farquhar with the photo leaving them with an impossible souvenir.

Here are some other magic tricks that are perfect for Wedding Couples

I hope this helps John, please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.
