How to do Fire Magic Tricks like Dynamo Magician Impossible

If you watched the latest episode of Dynamo Magician Impossible then you would have seen a lot of magic with fire!

We thought we would suggest some great tricks that use fire, but before we do, we should run through some things that you should think about. Safety first, safety second.

Fire is such a cool thing to add to a magic trick, it can add a visual nature to your magic, it can provide a logical reason for something that occurs (for example burn marks or writing appearing on a card), it also draws attention and is inherently mystical, how many times have you just stared at the flames of a bonfire or a log fire?

If you are wanting to use fire in any live performance with the public, you should be insured. You can get performer’s insurance from Equity, it is a serious thing to be covered, not only for your protection but for your spectators, should anything unplanned occur. For example you need to be covered in case you burn a piece of furniture or a carpet. You could also burn a spectator’s clothing or worse still, the actual person if something went wrong. You should ALWAYS be aware of the risks involved with any magic you perform.

Also common sense should be used, for example you should not perform fire magic inside, in busy conditions, you wouldn’t want someone walking past and knocking you when you have a ball of fire flying from your hand!

With these things being said, here are some great magic tricks that involve fire that wouldn’t look out of place in a Dynamo Magician Impossible episode.

Flash Notes

A great tool to use if you want to vanish money in a burst of fire! More info on flash notes

Flash Gun

This prop will allow you to shoot balls of fire from your hand that fly for over 6 feet! (Please be aware that you need to purchase Flash Paper and Flash Cotton separately) More info on using a flash gun here

Combustion

This tuition DVD will teach you how to make a self lighting match. This is only an instructional DVD and does not come with props, these must be bought separately. More info on Combustion here

Spontaneous Combustion

This DVD teaches some of Jay Sankey’s favourite fire effects that he has created over the years. There is some great workable magic here that uses fire. Again, flash products must be bought separately for any effects taught on this DVD. More info on Spontaneous Combustion here

Fire from Hands

This is a great illusion, flames lick up to the sky from your palms! More info on fire from hands here

In a Flash

This is possibly my favourite piece of card magic with fire! A signed coin wrapped in paper burns a hole through a deck and only stops burning through the deck when it reaches the spectator’s signed card! More info on In a Flash here

Thumb Tip Flame

Recommended Magic Tricks for Dynamo Magician Impossible Series 4 Episode 1

The first episode of Dynamo Magician Impossible has aired on UK TV and magicians are contacting the magic shop to ask about the magic that was performed. We’ve put together a group of magic tricks that are of interest to magicians that watched Dynamo perform and have been inspired by the magic.

Sub Zero – You hand out a deck of playing cards. a Spectator mixes the cards and places them on a table. You showa prediction card (let’s say the 9 of spades). Explaining that your card comes from a different deck you explain that the deck in front of them contains a matching 9 of spades. Your spectators task is “easy?” all she has to do is deal the cards into a face down pile, stopping only when she senses she is holding the 9 of clubs. You are both now committed to your cards. She slowly turns her card over and it matches your prediction 100%. Now as a final kicker you say “now that wouldn’t be that impressive if all the cards were the same……Or would it?” you turn the rest of the deck over and they are all the 7 of spades. The Clarity Box – This caught the eye of EVERY magician in the magic community and so many working magicians knew they had to have it! They kept coming back to see ‘that moment’ again and again. The moment we are talking about is when a folded card that has been on display in a CLEAR BOX, IN FULL VIEW the whole time is tipped out to show it is the spectator’s signed, selected playing card! Fryes Chips – How to Spin a poker chip or coin on your finger with no skill required. Imagine being able to spin a poker chip on the very tip of your finger. Even when you’re inches away, the secret of the stunt is impossible to detect. It looks like you’re REALLY balancing a chip on the tip of your finger! It looks perfect from all angles and can be done surrounded. No thumbtip needed, and you could adapt it to spin a coin instead. Find out more here

Dynamo Magician Impossible Season 4 – The Skateboard Trick

Season 4, the final installment of Dynamo Magician Impossible is here!

The final Dynamo season has now begun. Expect to see the same ultra visual, completely crazy and definitely impossible magic tricks that Dynamo Magician Impossible has become so well known for.

In true Dynamo style they have kept their cards close to their chest (pun intended!) and not revealed too much about what Dynamo will do. They have disclosed a few of things though:

1) This WILL be the LAST season of Dynamo Magician Impossible.

2) He will travel to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Paris even India before finishing the series in London and the North of England.

3) We know there will be a levitation above the Shard!

With reference to the controversial photo taken of Dynamo showing wires during the Shard levitation Dynamo had a few things to say:

'The picture was taken during the rehearsal of the levitation, it is not quite what it seems… All will be revealed' – Dynamo
